Scope:

The restoration of DeHart Bridge, a historic structure nestled in the heart of Brooklin, Ontario, harks back to several centuries. Over time, the beams supporting the roadway beneath exhibited significant deterioration, prompting a need for repair. Despite the aging condition, the decision was made to restore rather than replace the structure due to its historical significance. Notably, this marks the region’s inaugural implementation of the CFRP (Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) system. This innovative approach involves affixing carbon fiber beneath the beams to enhance the bridge’s overhead weight capacity. CFRP, renowned for its outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, imparts increased strength to the structure without substantially augmenting its overall weight
